SOURCES FOR CIVIC WATCH

focus on Middletown futures; especially, key indicators of future Middletown land-use

1. Closely watching meeting agendas and proceedings of the Middletown Planning Committee & board.
2. Closely examine the 2014 planning board list of Master Plan areas that should be re-visited (that 2014 review list is on the  Middletown Master Plan - URL below)
3.Cultivate two Oak Hill residents  on the the planning board/committee (Carl Rathjen and Christine Gisondi – both OHCA non-members- )

Reviews of  Feb, 2015 draft of Middletown 2015-2010 "Consolidated Plan"

MONITOR UNDEVELOPED/PUBLIC LAND: map on page 42 of above Master Plan, shows publicly owned lands.  (at issue: presently undeveloped land along West side Middletown-Lincroft Rd, heading North toward the train station)

Lee Brewer comments: [the publicly owned lands] could easily be redesignated for use as a development project like clinic or senior housing. Once the Township owns the land... they can do anything with it at any time. The DEP is not normally concerned about inland lands except to assure that they do not further contaminate the Navesink. .

We don't actually know that some Twp action has not taken place already since this map of '87. When I checked the other day, the Twp Clerk office did not show it was a designated anything when I asked them about the property.  She was sort of surprised that I was inquiring about it. Oh well... like any larger acreage "empty" properties in our area,.it just bears watching

LOW COST HOUSING CONTACT: Phil Welch is a 30-year advocate for low cost housing.  He is a chief supporter of Family Promise. He received a  CD, from Middletown clerk, with 12/30/2008 version of “Housing Elements & Fair Share Plan” – (likely the document labeled “approved 12/11/2008” which is discussed below).
