DIRECTIONS TO CREATE MAP FOR NEIGHBORHOOD GARAGE SALE

1. create excel file, with entries for each garage sale location:

2. save the excel file (i.e. “temp.xlsx”) on your PC  (ie, desktop)

3. open the excel file, and click “save as” CSV file  (i.e. “temp.csv”) to your desktop

4. google “my google maps"

click “Create a new map”

AT THIS POINT, YOU WILL NEED TO LOGIN TO GOOGLE, or “Create an account”.  (it is free) 

click “import”

drag the temp.csv , OR “Select a file from your computer” – and browse to “temp.csv”

check the appropriate boxes “Choose columns to position your placemarks”

   ( you click “33”, “borden road”, “Middletown” , “NJ”, “07748”)

click “continue”

Click the appropriate box to “Choose a column to title your markers”

   (you click the 1st entry- labeled “1”

click “Finish”

THEN MAGIC HAPPENS!   (You can expand/shrink, move, etc, just like any other on-line map)

I then need to "share", and "embed the map" - which yields a URL, which I link into oakhillnj.com
